Former Players: M’Bia annoys Marseille

After representing Cameroon at the World Cup, Stéphane Mbia had been granted a few additional rest days. However, as his return was planned on July 17th, the former Rennes player did not take time to contact his employer for a delay of… 3 days.

Without any news of the player, Marseille’s management was reassured yesterday by the player’s agent, who brought some explanations to Aningo, Dassier and Deschamps. However, the Marseille board doesn’t exclude a financial punishment, which will be decided after they meet the African defender.

According to newspaper La Provence’s website, M’Bia is thought to be struggling with “family issues”. Indeed, his wife and father, both ill, are thought to be hospitalised in Cameroon at the moment, logically leading him to delay his return trip to Marseille.
