Former Players: Jimmy Briand is fit and ready

After scoring his first goal with Lyon during the week at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground (1-3), Jimmy Briand had more success this week-end during the Emirates Cup, played between Arsenal, Celtic Glasgow, Lyon and Milan AC.

Against the Italian team (1-1), the former Rennes striker scored a diving header to equalise ten minutes from the final whistle. In this competition, the “Gones” went home with two draws, since they couldn’t make the difference the previous days against Celtic Glasgow (2-2)

After the Game, Briand told of his great integration in the squad since he signed for Lyon: « We had many opportunities to score. I hope we, and it includes me, have kept some in store for next Saturday. It’s a shame, we should have won that game. It’s just a matter of fortune. I’m finding automatisms with my team-mates. I played on the side and as a centre forward. I certainly have more ability in the centre, but it doesn’t really matter.” On the Ligue 1 kick-off, Briand and the seven-time French champion will face Monaco. A chance for “Jimbo” to meet Petter Hansson, Guy Lacombe and Sébastien Puygrenier, three familiar faces in Rennes.
