Nancy - Rennes: Rennes train on a synthetic pitch

Two Ligue 1 teams are now fully equipped with a synthetic ground for their League games, Lorient and Nancy. In view of the Game Week 2 encounter with Nancy, in their Marcel Picot Stadium, Frédéric Antonetti’s squad will be training all week on a synthetic pitch, at the Henri-Guérin training complex.

Approved by the LFP (French Professional League), this will certainly be an advantage for the resident team. The synthetic ground has been in place since August in Nancy, and the players have mixed feelings at this moment, as Julien Féret explains: "The pitch isn’t slippery, but the ball accelerates when you don’t expect it. We might need some time to get used to it”.

A few years ago, Rennes considered the installation of a synthetic field to make the ground’s maintenance easier and solve recurrent issues with the Stadium’s lawn, especially around the Crédit Mutuel de Bretagne stand, but the direction of the club did not follow on this project.
