Ligue 1 : The end of negative streaks for Rennes

Ligue 1 : The end of negative streaks for Rennes

Victory, five months later

By winning their first game in the 2010-2011 season, away in Nancy, Rennes managed to get over a negative streak running since a game in Le Mans on the 28th March (1-3, Game Week 30).

Since then, the “Rouge et Noir” had not managed to win a competitive game in nearly 5 months. After five draws (Lorient, Nancy, Nice, Paris SG, Lille) and four defeats (Lyon, Sochaux, Marseille, Boulogne sur Mer), Frédéric Antonetti came back to winning ways in Nancy.

Rennes, Leader for a few hours!

Before Sunday’s games (Bordeaux-Toulouse, Caen-Lyon, Lille-Paris-SG), Rennes was leading the Ligue 1 standing this Sunday morning, on the goal difference. The Breton club then saw Caen and Toulouse take the lead after their second victory in as many games.

Last year, Rennes had known the same situation in the first Game Week, after beating Boulogne sur Mer (3-0) at the Stade de la Route de Lorient. There again, it only lasted 24 hours until Bordeaux took the lead a day later with a large victory against Lens (4-1).
