Former Players: Esteban had “become useless”

After he agreed on a termination of his contract with Rennes and signed for a year with Servette Geneva at the end of July (also read, Julian Esteban was playing his first game with his new team on Saturday. A chance for the swiss striker to look back at his spell in Brittany, in an interview to the Tribune de Genève.

«I felt like I was left aside, as if I had become useless. Because of injuries. But nobody made me feel like they supported me, as if Rennes did not really care. So I was labelled as a player not to count on’”, explains Esteban, who admits his first year went “quite well”

«Even when I was here (NB : at Servette Geneva on loan last year, I knew I would have to go back to Rennes. I did not like the sound of it. So yes, now I’m feeling lighter, free», who admits it was « rather easy » to find an agreement with Rennes for the termination of his contract.
