International, U21: Pajot and Camara called for a training camp in Clairefontaine

Loaned to Boulogne-sur-Mer this season (Ligue 2), new professional Vincent Pajot will take part from October 3rd to 5th to a training camp in Clairefontaine.

Performing well with his club (10 games, 9 starts, 1 goal and 1 assist), he has been selected by the U21 national coach, Eric Mombaerts, alongside his Rennes team-mate Abdoul Razzagui Camara, called up as a replacement after 3 players could not honour their selection.

Camara hasn’t worn the Blue jersey since several seasons, but he was involved, alongside M’Vila, in the 2007 U17 World Cup. He has recently been called by Guinea, his birth country, but eventually declined the selection.

Knocked out of the 2011 Euro, the “Bleuets” are starting things up with a new generation in view of the 2013 Euro. Players born in 1988 and 1989 are no longer part of a selection where all players will now have to be born after January 1st, 1990.

While the 1991 generation, recently crowned European champions, will compete in the U20 World Cup in July 2011, the U21 will go through a transition season. “Our aim is to enlarge the group of players born in 1990 and 1991 to lay the base of the U21 national squad”, Mombaerts explains on the Federation’s website.

The first step of this enlargement is a detection camp involving 18 players (mostly Ligue 2 players) including Pajot and Camara in early October.

Meanwhile, Érick Mombaerts will publish this Thursday the « real » U21 national team list to play friendly games against Turkey, on October 8th and Denmark (12th). Yacine Brahimi could be included in this selection.
