No contract extension in sight for Douchez

No contract extension in sight for Douchez

Asked about his future in an interview to football magazine So Foot’s website, Nicolas Douchez admitted that is future at Stade Rennes remains in doubt. Reaching the end of his contract in June next year, the goalkeeper hasn’t received any new proposition to extend his contract, after the one he refused last year

«It is not, as it has been said in the papers, that I refused or did not want to remain at the club, Douchez explained, I’ve always said I was interested in the club’s project, and that we simply failed to agree”.

At the beginning of last season, rumours spread of a « long term » contract extension proposed to the keeper. A proposal refused, then, and not followed, probably because of the player’s poor 2009-2010 season. The possibility of an emergence by Johann Carrasso, or on longer term Abdoulaye Diallo, could seal Douchez’ future in Rennes.

Missing in training since the beginning of this week after he had his wisdom teeth removed, the keeper remains serene. “Honnestly, I don’t mind, I’m taking it easy, he explains. I certainly don’t have any problem with Johann (Carasso) or anyone at the club. The fact we can’t agree doesn’t mean we have to fight each other”.

Unless a contract extension was signed in the meantime, Nicolas Douchez and Stade Rennes should be parting ways in good terms next June.
