International: Brahimi in the starting eleven, Diallo on the bench

In the starting eleven at the Stade de l’Aube, Troyes, Yacine Brahimi displayed an impressive performance with France U21, for his second cap at this level against Turkey.

Replaced after one hour, the midfielder showed some good skills and even hit the cross bar with a powerful shot deflected by the goalkeeper.

This friendly game was eventually won 2-0 by Les Bleuets , with goals by two Premier League players, former Strasbourg man Magaye Gueye (Everton) and former Paris striker David N’Gog (Liverpool).

On his side, Abdoulaye Diallo did not have the same pleasure with France U19. The European champion goalkeeper has been left to start the game on the bench, with Le Havre Zacharie Boucher preferred to start against the modest team of San Marino (3-0)

Born in 1992, the only upclassed player in the winning squad in July (all other players were born in 1992), Diallo could have hoped to continue playing with his European Championship teammates to prepare for the U20 World Cup next summer.

Eventually, the Rennes goalkeeper was left with the U19 squad, who start their qualifying round for the next Euro, apparently to help them qualify. Visibly, this view wasn’t shared by Philippe Bergeroo, the generation’s national coach.
