Lens will play with a new captain

Shambles go on at RC Lens. Following the violent altercation with his team-mate Nenad Kovačević two weeks ago (see previously), Yohan Demont has been stripped off the captain armband for the game against Stade Rennes this Sunday.

A sanctioning decision, explained by manager Jean-Guy Wallemme: “Yohan knows he should not have reacted this way, he condemns talking to newspaper La Voix du Nord. A professional should be able to keep his self-control in that kind of difficult moments. To behave this wat, it’s a weakness”.

Consequently, midfielder Adil Hermach is taking over the RC Lens’ captaincy from this week-end. “It’s my choice”, Wallemme explained. I don’t see who could deny he is the most regular member of the squad since the beginning of the season. He knows the club, he is performant”. According to the Lens manager, Demont is said to have “reacted well” to the decision.
