Transfers: Rennes set sights on Huseklepp

Since several days, Erik Huseklepp’s name is appearing in the press regularly, as one of the possible reinforcements to Rennes’ attacking line in the next winter transfer window.

A Norwegian international striker, Huseklepp is currently playing for Brann Bergen. Aged 26, he is able to play on both flanks of the attack or at centre forward, and would therefore match the profile required by the Rennes recruiters.

Daily newspaper Ouest-France relayed information from the Norwegian press today, reporting that Rennes’ scouts were at Bergen last Monday to observe the player (who scored a brace in the occasion). An information confirmed by Huseklepp himself, who declined to give any comments on it however. After he signed a contract extension with Brann Bergen recently, his contract is now running until December 2013 (according to skysports.com)

It remains to be seen if Rennes’ interest will materialise with an offer over the next couple of months. Huseklepp’s name had already fed the rumours in Rennes in May 2009. The player himself has already played at the Route de Lorient, when the SK Brann came to draw against Stade Rennes in the UEFA Cup (1-1, November 8th, 2007). In August, he was opposed to Yann M’Vila, Rod Fanni and Nicolas Douchez in the international friendly between France and Norway. In this occasion, Huseklepp had scored both goals for his team (2-1).
