Le Lay: The supporters are king

Le Lay: The supporters are king

Interviewed in newspaper Le Parisien this Friday, Patrick Le Lay justified the relatively weak enthusiasm created in Rennes by the Stade Rennais’ leadership in the League. According to the former TF1 CEO, the club has to take the responsibility for it.

“One thing is certain, the Bretons are no expansive people, Le Lay explained. Now it’s up to us to improve the atmosphere and the quality on the pitch, as this sort of situation is always to blame on those who organise the show. The first rule of thumb is that the supporters are kings. I did not use to blame the audience when a TV show used to flop. It was because it wasn’t good enough, or because the competition was superior”.

In unison with the declarations of his players and staff over the last few weeks, Patrick Le Lay also admitted that it “isn’t reasonable to think” the Stade Rennais could remain on top of the league over the long term, although it remains a “wish”.
Finally, he confirmed that, “except for a huge surprise”, the problem with the lack of strikers in the Rennes squad would not be solved before the next winter transfer window.
