Stade Rennais - Lyon : Statistics

: For the third time this season, after Nancy (3-0) and Toulouse (3-1), the Stade Rennais players did not receive any booking over this game. A situation which allows both Victor Hugo Montaño and Yacine Brahimi to get rid of the threat of a suspension at their next yellow card after their first cautioning, received against Saint-Étienne, is now cleared.

: Replacing Montaño at the end of the match, Abdoul Camara is Frédéric Antonetti’s favourite substitute. The French-Guinean youngster has come in play in 6 occasions this season, including four times in the last four games, the most times for a Rennes player.

: Jirès Kembo Ekoko scored his seventh goal with Rennes, the second this season after he scored against Guingamp in the Coupe de la Ligue. Over these seven goals, this was the fifth at the Route de Lorient and the fourth in Ligue 1.

: As we mentioned a few days ago in the pre-game history, draws are an unlikely outcome these days between Rennes and Lyon at the Stade de la Route de Lorient. In fact, the last one dates back to February 6th, 2002, a bit more than 8 years ago. On that night, goals by Dominique Arribagé and Laurent Batlles replied to an opener by Sonny Anderson. The same Anderson would snatch an equaliser in the final instants of the game, despite the dismissal of his Brazilian team-mate, defender Edmilson.

: The number of Stade Rennes Academy trained players to have entered the pitch on Saturday evening. Eight of them played for Rennes, including six in the starting line-up (Danzé, Théophile-Catherine, Souprayen, M’Vila, Kembo, Marveaux, Brahimi, Camara), three started the game for Lyon (Briand, Gourcuff, Réveillère). Enough to line-up a very decent team, apart for a goalkeeper,

: Spotless on the left, on the right or at centre-back like this Saturday, Kévin Théophile-Catherine is possibly “the” revelation of the early season in Rennes. With Mangane and Leroy’s suspensions, the Saint Brieuc man is now the only player that have been involved in any of the first twelve games in Rennes’ season, all competitions included. In fact, Théophile-Catherine is yet to miss a minute of play this season.
