Escudé : « Possibly, Rennes... »

Escudé : « Possibly, Rennes... »

In a long interview to football magazine So Foot, Julien Escudé is looking at his career, including his seasons at the Stade Rennais.

Trained at AS Cannes, the defender reveals that, transfer listed by his club, he was first supposed to sign in Bordeaux. ”I had been told it’s Bordeaux or nothing, Escudé explains. Bordeaux is where my father had failed… (i.e.: Paul Escudé played for the Girondins briefly in the 1970’s) On decision day, Paul Le Guen called me. He had just arrived in Rennes (i.e.: in fact, Le Guen had arrived a year earlier) , he had ambition, and mainly, they could match Bordeaux’ financial offer”.

In regards to his future, the international defender admits he is satisfied with Life at FC Seville, although he keeps his options open in case a big club was to contact him. “Auxerre or a second-tier club in Germany, I’m not interested, Escudé throws. Possibly, I could return to Brittany to be closer to my son. Rennes is building on solid ground. I don’t know the manager, but I have a good feeling

Aged 31, Julien Escudé spent four seasons at Stade Rennes, from 1999 to 2003. He played 131 games with Rennes, and scored one goal.
