Antonetti's possible contract extension is linked to the team's performance

Two weeks ago, Frédéric Antonetti explained it was “too early” to talk about a possible extension of his contract at the Stade Rennais, when his current contract is due to expire in June next year (read previously)

Questioned on L’Équipe’s website, the Rennes manager made his point clearer. “I discussed the topic with my management, but I told them we need to wait, Antonetti explains. To sign a new contract, results need to be there. Else I won’t sign. I’ve got this honesty”. A sportive success which he considers a sixth place would be, “on top of the second hat” which includes the Stade Rennais, as he likes to repeat, and why not even better “if one of the big guns should fail”.

Also, the Stade Rennes manager affirmed he thinks “to be matching the profile” needed in regards to the club’s policy. “I have a great time working with these youngsters, Antonetti rejoices. Now, to the question would I like to have them all two years older? Yes! The frustration is only there. Else, I’m very happy in Rennes, and I want to succeed here ».
