Transfers: Fanni to Marseille, it's not over

On Wednesday evening, Rod Fanni’s possible transfer to Marseille seemed to be a closed case. Both Patrick Le Lay (read more) and Jean-Claude Dassier (read more) affirmed that the two clubs’ positions were too distant to imagine an agreement on the transfer fee.

In Marseille, where he would like to sign, the Rennes defender has got a heavy support in Didier Deschamps however. According to L’Équipe this Friday, the Marseille manager was «putting a lot of effort at the club » to try and manage the transfer, with Fanni his priority to replace Azpilicueta, injured.

Despite declarations from both sides, the negotiations are still going on between the clubs. A fact confirmed by Fanni’s agent, Dominique Six, this Friday on Football365.fr.

According to our information, the talks held over the last few days have considerably narrowed the positions between the clubs. Unwilling to give in to the financial demand set by the Stade Rennais at first, the OM management have reportedly upped their offer to reach an amount much closer to what Rennes are requesting to let their player go.
