Sow's departure : Dréossi accepts his responbilities

This Saturday, L’Équipe dedicates a full page yo the success of former Rennes striker Moussa Sow, the current top goal scorer in Ligue 1 (13 goals), who scored his second hat-trick of the season last week-end.

Looking back at the departure of his player, free of any contract last summer, Pierre Dréossi repeated his belief in a strict “salary grid”, which prevented the contract extension of Sow, demanding too much for the club. “We are in control of our payroll”, the Rennes general manager explains. It has got advantages, but also some drawbacks. When I see Sow scoring goal after goal, I feel like it is a disadvantage. But if we had made an exception and offered Sow a contract over 100,000 euro per month, we would never have managed to extend the contracts of M’Vila, Théophile-Catherine or Brahimi».

Talking about his first game of the season (at the Route de Lorient with the LOSC) and his first goal with his new club, Sow expressed some regrets, especially “to have expressed [his] joy ” in this occasion. “I could have calmed down, not run towards the bench. It felt weird”, the Senegalese striker explained.
