Discipline : Doumbia to be sanctioned restropectively?

Discipline : Doumbia to be sanctioned restropectively?

Guilty of a terrible challenge on Jaroslav Plašil at the beginning of the Bordeaux – Rennes match, Tongo Doumbia could be receiving a sanction retrospectively from the LFP’s Discipline Commission.

Given a yellow card by Philippe Kalt, the young midfielder explained after the game that his foul was entirely unintentional. “I have to admit, I thought I wouldn’t finish the game, Doumbia explained in front of the press. I did not see him arrive, I raise my foot. I’m lucky he stood up again, or I would have received a red. It was clumsy, rather than dirty”.

His gesture, recorded by Canal+’s cameras, could cost him more than just a yellow card though. According to Sports.fr, the National Direction of Refereeing announced that M. Kalt had “wished to write a supplementary report” on the incident, to be addressed to the LFP’s Discipline Commission. Should this report be in Doumbia’s disfavour, the player could still be under the threat of a suspension. Reply next Thursday the soonest.
