Former Staff : An ultimatum for Lacombe

Former Staff : An ultimatum for Lacombe

After yet another home defeat against Saint-Etienne (0-2), the situation is getting more and more difficult for Guy Lacombe in Monaco. Seventeenth on the League standings, with only two victories so far this season, the Principality’s club is swimming in troubled waters at the moment.

In an official press release, Monaco president Étienne Franzi reacted on the sportive situation of Lacombe’s squad : « two games in quick succession remain to be played before the winter break. At the end of this first half of the season, the AS Monaco FC will look for the best solution in order to rescue the professional team’s current situation, this after analysing, without any exception, all the possible options”.

In other words, a sword of Damocles is now hanging over the head of the former Stade Rennes coach, with his contract expiring at the end of this season. Next Saturday, a dangerous trip to Paris Saint Germain is looming for Lacombe and his players, before hosting Sochaux 5 days later. In the last hours, rumours of Jean Petit taking over from Lacombe were spreading around the Stade Louis-II.
