Coupe de France : Cannes is satisfied

Despite the perspective of a travel at the Route de Lorient in early January, the AS Cannes welcomed their Coupe de France draw with satisfaction on Monday evening.

Talking to RTL-L’Équipe, Xavier Nielsen, managing director of the Cannes club would have “preferred to host” for this round of 64 game. “With the Stade Rennais, we drew the jackpot, Nielsen reacted with enthusiasm. This is one of the best teams in the League”.

For Cannes, relegated from the top-flight twelve years ago, this game will be a chance to play at the highest level again. ”We were hoping to play a big club, the managing director explains. It’s the first time Cannes plays a Ligue 1 team in ten or twelve years, so we’ll be happy to do the trip, and we will organise it for our supporters too”.
