Transfers : Rennes want to act quickly

This Saturday, the winter transfer window will open in France. For Stade Rennes, this will be the long awaited chance to strengthen an attacking line seriously handicapped by the combined departures of Gyan and Bangoura, as well as Marveaux’s recurrent injuries.

Pierre Dréossi wants to act quickly. « We will try to bring in a forward before the return to training, which is on January 3rd”, the Rennes general manager explained to RMC last Saturday.
In the meantime, Dréossi was expected to meet his hierarchy in order to discuss the direction to take during the coming transfer period. “We are in the last phase of reflection, he explained to Ouest-France on Friday. The final decision will be taken on 26th December in Paris, with the president and the shares holder”. At this moment, nothing has filtered from this meeting.

The announced target are « players who play in France, because the winter market is specific, according to Dréossi. They have to adapt very quickly”. Last summer, a “local” recruitment had already been preferred, with Kana-Biyik, Montaño, Carrasso and Dalmat arriving. The priority, by all means, is to recruit an attacking player, and maybe “manage a second” if the “opportunities that will open all over the month of January” allow it.
For now, appointment is made, any time before January 3rd, to know who the first Rennes recruit will be in this mercato.
