Former staff : Bölöni takes charge as RC Lens manager

In a press release published this Sunday, RC Lens officially announced the arrival of Laszlo Bölöni as the head coach of the professional team, replacing Jean-Guy Wallemme.

Without a club since September, when he was evicted from Al-Wahda (United Arab Emirates) after only 3 months in charge, and his departure from Standard de Liège (Belgium), the former Stade Rennes manager will have the mission to help RC Lens, currently in 19th position, remaining in Ligue 1.

Arrived in Rennes in June 2003, Laszlo Bölöni allowed the Breton club to return to Europe thanks to a fourt place at the end of ther 2004-2005 season, He left the “Rouge et Noir” in May 2006 to join Monaco, from where he was sacked…three months later.

After Nancy (1994-2000), Rennes (2003-2006) and Monaco (2006), Lens is the fourth French Ligue 1 club to be managed by the Romanian coach.
