Injuries : Marveaux to miss the rest of the season ?

Injuries : Marveaux to miss the rest of the season ?

Did Sylvain Marveaux play his last ever game for Rennes on November 20th 2010 against Brest? According to Ouest-France, this possibility has gained a lot of credit over the last few weeks.

A Stade Rennes player since 2011 (professional since 2006), Marveaux suffers with recurrent adductors injuries. Two years ago, these thigh muscles had prevented him to play during most of the 2008-2009 season. On August 19th 2008, playing with France U21, the midfielder tore a thigh muscle. His recovery was disturbed by calcification issues. Marveaux was then forced to undergo surgery, returning to competitive football only in May 2009, after the Coupe de France final.

Today, it seems that the Vannes man is suffering with a similar injury, according to Ouest-France, and he will have to return to the operation table. An operation that probably means an early end to the season for the player. With a contract expiring in June, and clearly eager to leave Brittany (as his recent presence at Anfield Road and Pierre Dreossi’s interview on Tuesday tend to prove, Marveaux could well not wear the red and black shirt again before his departure.
