Discipline : a four-match ban for Doumbia!

Discipline : a four-match ban for Doumbia!

The LFP’s discipline commission, gathered this Thursday, decided to inflict a four match ban to Tongo Hamed Doumbia.

The midfielder was summoned because of his dangerous challenge on Bordeaux’ Jaroslav Plasil, on December 12th 2010. After the action, Doumbia had only received a yellow card, but the game referee, Philippe Kalt, had written an additional report to the attention of the Discipline commission after the game.

The Commission hasn’t been convinced by the arguments of the player, who blamed the action on « clumsiness » after the game (read previously). Unfortunately for him, the game was broadcasted live on Canal+, and his gesture had been largely discussed and condemned in the media.

This is probably a reason for this long ban inflicted to Doumbia, who will be out at least until mid-February (depending on the club’s run in the Coupe de France). With the sanction applied on Monday only, the former Chateauroux man will be allowed to play this Sunday against Cannes however.

Another decision, which won’t improve Stade Rennes’ feeling against the discipline commission, after the outrage following the decision taken against Kader Mangane in October 2010.
