Antonetti requests “guarantees” for next season

Antonetti requests “guarantees” for next season

Talking to Corsican newspaper 24 Ore, Frédéric Antonetti discussed his future at Rennes once again.

After he repeated, once more, that a possible contract extension would be linked to the club’s results, the manager also added another condition. “I want guarantees, he explained. I want to be sure I can keep my current squad”.

Several players of a Rennes team « at the beginning of a cycle » are likely to attract the attention at the end of the season. The case of Yann M’Vila is the most obvious, with important sums of money already announced for a possible transfer. The question is to know how the club’s management will deal with the situation: Sell, possibly cashing in the biggest transfer fee ever received in Rennes, or to try and keep the young midfielder whatever the price.

Also, it is good to remain that M’Vila is not alone, and that more key players (Mangane) or rising talents (Kana-Biyik, Kembo...) could also be attracting some interest and speculation next summer. In other words, a lot of uncertainty.

In all cases, Antonetti promises that the decision of a possible extension will be taken before June. “It becomes clearer along with the games, obviously, the Rennes manager commented. All right, I talk: I won’t hide you that we are in talks”.
