Gambardella Cup : Rennes enters the competition this Sunday

This Sunday, 14:30, the Stade Rennes U19 team will make their entry in the 2010-2011 Gambardella Cup.

For their first match, Rennes will be travelling to North-Finistere side Plabennec.

After two eliminations at the round of 16 over the last two years, the young Rennais will be nurturing new ambitions this year.

The squad, led by Laurent Huard, will be mainly constituted of players born in 1992 and 1993, possibly with a few players born in 1994. Therefore, the leader of this generation will probably be Abdoulaye Diallo, alongside a few players already used to play with the Reserve in CFA, such as defender Fabien Balisier, midfielder Jonathan Isambart, or forwards Jean-Bryan Boukaka and Kévin Makila.

This squad could also include the two African recruits of the early season, Ghanaian midfielder Kamal Issah and Senegalese defender Pape Malick Kandji.

Behind the 1992 generation, the brilliant 1993 generation should complete the starting eleven. The internationals in this generation (Abdoulaye Doucouré – injured at the moment -, Eliott Sorin, Dimitri Foulquier, Wesley Yamnaine, Axel N’Gando) will probably be given a chance to shine in this competition
