Coupe de France: Rennes will face Vaulx-en-Velin!

While Ligue 1 clubs suffered, they were not the only victims of “giant-killings” in the Coupe de France’s round of 64.

This Saturday, in a delayed game, Vaulx-en-Velin (DH) managed the upset by eliminating Jura Sud (CFA), a team playing two divisions above them in the national hierarchy. After opening the score by Merbeti (26’), the players from Lyon’s suburb conceded an equaliser to Jura Sud (Abda, 60’) before winning on the penalty-shootouts.

This will therefore be Vaulx-en-Velin, the last club from the Division d’Honneur still remaining, that Stade Rennes will face next Sunday in front of Eurosport’s cameras. It is unknown at this oment, whether the minnows will host the “Rouge et Noir” on their pitch, or if the game will be played in a different stadium, such as Olympique Lyonnais’ Gerland.
