Coupe de France: The game to be played at Lyon-Duchère?

Coupe de France: The game to be played at Lyon-Duchère?

Where will the Coupe de France Round of 32 game between Stade Rennes and Vaulx-en-Velin be played next Sunday? Since the Division d’Honneur club qualified last Saturday, the question is clearly asked. The minnows’ stadium is indeed, not suitable to host a Ligue 1 team.

Questionned by daily newspaper Le Progrès, the FC Vaulx-en-Velin president explained the will of his club to use the infrastructures of another club in Lyon’s agglomeration. “We will probably ask to play at Lyon-Duchère’s stadium, Mathias Galdeano explained. There is no way we would invert the draw and travel to Rennes. We need to reward and thank our supporters”.

The AS Lyon-Duchère’s Balmont stadium is located only about ten kilometres away from Vaulx-en-Velin. It has 4000 seats and hosts a club currently playing in the CFA Championship (4th tier).
