Leroy : «Keep up with Lille»

Questioned by regional newspaper Le Pays, Jérôme Leroy shares his feeling about the first half of the season and Rennes’ ambitions, as he prepares for a game against one of his former teams, FC Sochaux, this Saturday.

« We haven’t played very big teams since the winter break. That’s why this game against Sochaux is a very good test for us”. Lucid, Leroy realises that Stade Rennes has been sometimes lucky since the beginning of the season. “With that share of good fortune, Leroy explains, you manage good results and the confidence follows. And we don’t concede goals. We haven’t scored many goals during the first phase, but one goal in each game, it can be enough…if you don’t concede. Now, if on top of that the forwards start being efficient, it becomes really interesting”.

So, at the end of the day, what is Rennes’ target for the season? “The objective is to keep up with Lille’s pace, the midfielder affirms. We would like to create a gap with the fifth and sixth as soon as possible. But it changes very quickly. You are second, you lose in Sochaux, and you become fifth…”
