Rennes - Marseille: Ferguson in the stands

Opposed to Marseille in Champions League’s round of 16, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will be watching the game between Marseille and the Stade Rennais at the Route de Lorient, according to France Football’s website.

This isn’t the first time the Manchester manager travels to Rennes. In April 2003, he had come in person to watch Jimmy Briand, then 17, during a match of the Reserve, against Tours at la Piverdière (0-1). The striker was then one of the exciting prospects in French football, and would go on to win the Gambardella Cup a few weeks later.
