Antonetti: “To continue with that squad”

After the news of his two-years contract extension with the Stade Rennais, Frédéric Antonetti talked to the media. On Monday, the Stade Rennes board was gathered in Paris to discuss the strategy to adopt in view of next season. Questioned by Ouest-France, the Rennes manager explained this policy.

«We wish to continue with this squad, which I take a lot of pleasure coaching every day, Antonetti affirmed, who always stated his desire to continue helping his young players to improve. The aim is to keep this squad and reinforce it with three or four players. We aim to get closer and closer to the biggest teams in the league”.
By all means, the target is clearly to reinforce the squad and to avoid an exodus during the next transfer window. “Efforts will be made in that sense next season, the Rennes manager continues. But without condemning the policies we have set-up in terms of sports and wages. Everyone wants to improve, but we have to go step by step”.

In that sense, Frédéric Antonetti has also affirmed that Stade Rennes “could” increase its budget next season, depending of the final league ranking this season and the squad’s ability to “reproduce that sort of seasons in the future”.
