Transfers: the summer targets revealed

Transfers: the summer targets revealed

«The objective is to keep the squad and reinforce it with three or four players », Frédéric Antonetti explained on Tuesday. In its edition of today, L’Équipe looked at the recruitment plans for the Rennes summer window, unveiling a few names which could become the club’s priorities this summer.

In order to try and convince Yann M’Vila, Kader Mangane and Nicolas Douchez to remain at the club, Stade Rennais have reportedly offered them new contracts, with salaries “slightly above 120,000 euros”, which would stretch the salary cap level currently applied to the team (100,000 euros).
Although the club can decide to keep the first two players regardless, Douchez is reaching the end of his contract and will be free to leave at the end of the season. As France Football announced on March 25th, Nice’s David Ospina (22 y/o) is one of the club’s target to replace him, as well as Monaco’s Stéphane Ruffier (24 y/o). In case M’Vila was to depart, the replacement solution would be Moussa Sissoko (Toulouse, 21 y/o), three caps in the French national team.

To wake up an apathetic attacking sector, Frédéric Antonetti has already stated his wish to recruit an attacking midfielder and a striker.
Already named several time as a possible recruit and openly interested in a return to Rennes, Julien Féret (Nancy, 28 y/o) is reportedly “keeping in touch at regular intervals” with the club.
In attack, Stade Rennes is still hoping to attract Mevlüt Erding (Paris SG, 24 y/o), which they already tried to recruit in Summer 2009 and Autumn 2010, but are apparently “not under too much illusions” regarding the feasibility of this transfer. The most likely solution would therefore be Brest’s Nolan Roux (23 y/o) – the son of former Rennes player Bruno Roux – but the transfer fee requested for his transfer could be a stumbling block.
Finally, if they were to recruit a new left back, Stade Rennes are interested in Lens’ Henri Bédimo (26 y/o), since the priority target, Swedish defender Oscar Wendt (FC Copenhagen, 25 y/o), is unlikely to land in Brittany this summer.
