Transfers: Douchez on his way to Paris?

Transfers: Douchez on his way to Paris?

According to an information from L’Équipe’s website this Monday, Nicolas Douchez is believed to have agreed on a three years contract with the Paris Saint-Germain with an additional year in option, despite an offer from Rennes for a four years contract and a salary superior to Paris’ proposal.

Arrived in summer 2008 at Stade Rennes, the goalkeeper would leave Brittany after three seasons and a bit more than hundred games played with the “Rouge et Noir”. The man from Rosny-sous-Bois would join his native Region of Île-de-France where he should become the first choice goalkeeper next season. Indeed, Grégory Coupet has already announced he would retire at the end of the current season, while Apoula Edel hasn’t managed to convince the Paris management to keep him on board.

In Rennes, if Douchez’ departure was to be confirmed, the hierarchy of goalkeepers should be experiencing a couple of upheavals this summer. The recruiters in Rennes will probably be looking for a new number one, since Johann Carrasso doesn’t seem to have convinced the Rennes management. As potential targets, the names of David Ospina (Nice, 22 y/o) and Stéphane Ruffier (Monaco, 24 y/o) have already been mentioned.
In case Carrasso was to depart, with rumours linking him to Toulouse, Stade Rennes would still have two goalkeepers available: Cheick N’Diaye, on loan at Paris FC this season, and youngster Abdoulaye Diallo.
