Transfers: Féret to Rennes, done deal?

Transfers: Féret to Rennes, done deal?

Since several months, rumours are sending Nancy’s Julien Féret towards Stade Rennes. Early January, L’Équipe affirmed the existence of contacts between the Breton staff and the player, while he had already publicly expressed his interest to return to his training club (read previously).

Meanwhile, AS Nancy-Lorraine are preparing to part with their attacking midfielder since several months. Struggling financially, the club from Lorraine hasn’t got many alternatives to balance their accounts. Talking to local newspaper La Semaine, Nancy’s chairman Jacques Rousselot explained the situation. “Now, we need to rebuild the stock of chestnuts, he affirmed. How? By transferring a few players. The departures of Julien Féret to Rennes and Youssouf Hadji seem guaranteed. More could follow”.

Born in North-Brittany and trained at the Stade Rennais between 2000 and 2003, Julien Féret took his time to make his way to the highest level. He went through the National and Ligue 2 before discovering Ligue 1 with the ANSL in 2008, aged 26. Now one of the key-players in the club from Lorraine, he has been pre-selected several time in the French squad, but hasn’t yet been called-up by Laurent Blanc.
