Dréossi : “Leroy ? A misunderstanding”

Talking to RMC this Tuesday, Pierre Dréossi was invited to give his views after the angry declarations made by Jérôme Leroy a few days ago (read previously).

«I’m slightly disappointed with his reaction, since this is not exactly the way it happened, the general manager defended himself. Frédéric Antonetti and I, we have been hesitating a lot, until the last minute, to decide whether we should offer him a new contract or not. It was really a difficult choice, because he had a very good season. One week before the end of the season, I went to see Jérôme and I told him +we have to talk+. He replied +No, there’s no point+. There were several witnesses to that discussion. After that, Frédéric Antonetti told him we wouldn’t keep him. Indeed, I haven’t talked with him, but he didn’t want to talk with me. I think it’s a shame it ended this way. I believe he is disappointed because he hoped to stay”.

The general manager also made sure to heap some praise on his former player, at the club since four seasons. “Jérôme has been irreproachable from the first to the last minute, Dréossi explained. He has been very important for the club, and we can only thank him for everything he did. I think there has been a misunderstanding and honestly, it’s a shame, since I like Jérôme a lot, like everyone at the club”.
