Erding talks about his aborted transfer

In L’Équipe, Parisian forward Mevlüt Erding talked about the conditions of his missed transfer to Stade Rennes, at the end of August.

While everything seemed to confirm the arrival of the French-Turkish player in Rennes, his winning entrance in Toulouse (one goal and one assist) changed everything. A few minutes before entering in the game, Erding had even « his mind in Brittany », he explained. « I had agreed to go to Rennes the following day. Everything was settled at 95%. But the last 5% are what happened after. ».
Then, Erding was decisive twice in only five minutes, and led Paris to victory (3-1). His performance changed everything and encouraged the Parisian managers to reconsider their position.

Informed the day after by Leonardo that he would be retained in Paris, Erding phoned to Frédéric Antonetti in order to apologize. « You know you will not play so much with Paris, while you would have been scoring twenty goals with us? », the Rennes coach answered to him. This last argument didn’t change anything. Today, Erding explains that he wishes « to became France champion with Paris », and still hopes to to be lined-up at the front of the Parisian attacking line again.
Since the beginning of the season, the young forward never started a match in Ligue 1, and entered the pitch seven times for 80 minutes of play… and he hasn’t scored a single goal since this match in Toulouse.
