AfCoN: Boye in Ghana’s extended squad

Goran Stevanovic, the national coach of Ghana, announced Thursday a list of twenty five players pre-called up for the next African Cup of Nations. This list will be reduced to twenty three names by the beginning of January.

John Boye belongs to the list of defenders retained, even though he didn’t appear frequently with the Black Stars over the recent years (4 caps since 2008). Since nine players have been called-up in defence, one of them should be ruled out from the final list. Amoung the pre-called players are also former Rennais Asamoah Gyan and John Mensah.

The Ghanaian national team will go on a preparation stage in South Africa from the 7th to 19th January, date of its arrival in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, the two hosts of the competition. On the group D, Ghana will face Botswana, Guinea and Mali.
