Contracts, official : Kana-Biyik until 2015

Announced yesterday, the contract extension of Jean Armel Kana-Biyik with the Stade Rennais has been made official by the club this Wednesday.

The defender, who had signed a four-year contract on arriving in summer 2010, has extended for an additional season. He is now tied to Stade Rennes until 2015.
This contract extension strengthens the affirmation of the French-Cameronese at the heart of the Breton defence. Arrived to feature as a substitute, he profited of the long absence of Onyekachi Apam and then of the injury of Rod Fanni to start his career in the Rennes shirt, on August 28th 2010 in Arles-Avignon (1-0). The rest of the 2010-2011 season allowed him to set himself up as a first XI member in defence, alongside Kader Mangane.

With his improved status, Kana-Biyik obtains a salary increase alongside this contract extension. With the scheduled departure of Kader Mangane next summer, he will probably have to assure the continuity at centre back during the 2012-2013 season.
