Diarra earns Malian championship’s “Best Player” award

Diarra earns Malian championship's “Best Player” award

Recruited by the Stade Rennais this summer, Malian forward Cheick Fantamady Diarra had to leave Brittany soon after in order to prepare for the U20 World Cup with his country.

Waiting for an opportunity to confirm his good first performance with Rennes (he took part in the first half of Vannes-Rennes, at the Stade de la Rabine), Diarra received a nice reward in his country.
During an award ceremony celebrating the best players of the Malian championship, the new Rennes player was unveiled as the season’s best player for his performances under the shirt of the Stade Malien of Bamako.

Off to Columbia for the World Cup, Diarra and Mali will enter the competition this Saturday with a first game against South Korea. On Friday August 5th, it is against France and his future team-mate Chris Mavinga that the young Malian will play his last game in the groups phase.
