Dréossi will recruit an attacking player!

Dréossi will recruit an attacking player!

After a summer transfer window ending with the combined departures of Asamoah Gyan to Sunderland and Ismaël Bangoura to Al-Nasr, all supporters and followers of the Stade Rennais were eagerly waiting for Pierre Dréossi’s declarations. The SRFC’s general manager opened up to daily newspaper Ouest-France this morning, about the intentions of the Rennes management in terms of recruitment.

« We are competitive if we don’t come across particular problems. We have quality and the squad is presentable. For sure, it would be dangerous not to think about an attacking addition. There are two solutions: Recruiting a joker quickly or hang on until the winter break. But this would mean 17 games. So we look at every possible opportunity, as the numbers of player are too limited forwards. We will certainly do it, but I don’t know when. It’s hard to hit lucky on a joker” Pierre Dréossi explains.

Clearly, the general doubt that has been shed over the team’s attacking line is removed. The club will recruit a joker before Christmas, if a good opportunity arrives and (/or) if the Breton attack struggles to cope with injuries and suspensions. If not, the summer transfer market (1st to 31st January 2011) will be the right time to hire the missing additional striker. Several names have already been quoted on the Vilaine banks since a few days: Pierre-Alain Frau (Lille), Grégory Pujol (Valenciennes) and particularly Yoan Gouffran (Bordeaux).
