Europa League, Sion: The CAS to take its decision on 24th November?

In a press release published on its website, the UEFA announced that the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) planned his audience to the 24th November for ruling on the exclusion of FC Sion of the Europa League.

The aim is to get a decision « on the substance » on this case, and to determine if FC Sion have to be reinstated or not to the competition, and how. While the UEFA already announced that it would be present at this audience, the position of FC Sion is still not known. The Swiss club never hid its intention to reject the legitimacy of the CAS to judge this case, and may boycott the audience.

Interviewed Tuesday morning by the radio station RTL, Michel Platini, the president of the UEFA, rose up against the method to contest on a court the disciplinary decisions taken by football authorities. « If tomorrow you take a red card on a ground and you go to see a judge because you can not play the following game, and if the judge agrees, what can we do? Platini asked. Everything depends of the CAS. Today, we have in theory an independent disciplinary authority in every federation, such as the UEFA and the FIFA… If no one respects their decisions and go to civilian courts, since the justice is slow nowadays, I really wonder how it will end ».
