Europa League: Sion dismissed by the CAS

Europa League: Sion dismissed by the CAS

After several weeks of deliberation, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) agreed that the UEFA is right on the case which opposes it to FC Sion. The Swiss club, expelled from the Europa League for the benefit of Celtic Glasgow, has been ordered to pay 40.000 Swiss francs (that is to say a bit more than 30.000 euros) to the UEFA, in order to cover the juridic costs.

The FC Sion, which denies the CAS legitimacy since the beginning, announced that it will refer the case to the Swiss federal court.
Whatever happens now, with the CAS decision, the UEFA should validate the group results and its final ranking. If any new development occurs on this case, the two parties should be wrestling with each another for long months.

Eliminated from the Europa League, Stade Rennes should no more be concerned by the perspective of replaying games of group I.
