Europa League: Sion wishes to be reinstated after the group stage

Invited by the UEFA to express its preference for the way to proceed its possible reinstatement in the Europa League (waiting for the judgment of the CAS or the European authorities), FC Sion expressed its wish to be qualified for the knock-out phase, since the calendar should be too tight to add matches at the end of group I’s current set of games.

According to the retained formula, one qualifying place for the round of 16 would be played between three teams: two qualified from the group stages and FC Sion. Three games would be played in total, two for each team, including one at home. The winner of this « mini-group » would be qualified for the next turn.

Stade Rennes, like the other teams of group I, would then obtain satisfaction, and would avoid playing two additional matches.
