Former Players: Čech rewarded

Former Stade Rennes goalkeeper Petr Čech has been crowned “Czech player of the year” by his federation for the fourth time in his career.

A winner of the award in 2005, 2008, 2009 and now 2010, Čech is joining former Ballon d’or winner Pavel Nedvěd, also crowned in four occasions. This year, he won the award in front of Arsenal’s Tomáš Rosický and Atletico Madrid’s Tomáš Ujfaluši.

The standing is established after the votes of pundits, manager and Czech international players. For the year 2010, Čech had already won the best Czech player of the year prize, awarded by his country’s media.
