Former Players : Maoulida in Bastia

After three and a half seasons in Lens, Toifilou Maoulida has joined the SC Bastia this Tuesday. The striker from Mayotte has signed a two years contract.

Maoulida had become surplus to requirements in Lens, and didn’t hide his intention to leave the club from the North of France. Although his initial wish was to remain in Ligue 1, the former Rennes striker had not had a chance to join Ajaccio, who preferred to hire Brazilian striker Ilan at the last minute. Without any perspective in the top flight, Maoulida is therefore joining a club freshly promoted to Ligue 2, a division in wish he had already play in the past, with Montpellier and Lens.

At 32, the striker is joining what will be his eighth professional club.
