Former Players: Marveaux will undergo surgery

Years go by and little changes for Sylvain Marveaux. After his free transfer from Rennes to Newcastle last summer, the man from Vannes didn’t really have time to settle in his new club because of a major injury.

After an almost blank season in 2010-2011, Marveaux only just started to enjoy the football grounds again with the Magpies. After five short substitute entries in Premier League, he achieved his first assist for his new club, and then started a game for the first time, on November 5th against Everton (2-1).
Substituted before the hour mark during this match, Marveaux is now suffering with a groin injury. Last Thursday, the Newcastle’s staff confirmed that this injury requires a surgery. This week, the Breton midfielder will travel to Colorado, in the United States, where the operation will be done by a specialist.

No return date is planned for the moment, but Marveaux – after his numerous thigh injuries – could be once again kept away from the grounds for long months.
