Former Staff : Le Guen surprises everybody

Former Staff : Le Guen surprises everybody

An announcement was expected from Auxerre, Bordeaux or even Sochaux. Although Paul Le Guen will indeed sit on a bench next year, it won’t be for a club but for a national team since former coach of Stade Rennais will be the next coach of Oman, currently ranked 106th in the FIFA World Rankings. A surprising choice taking into account the set of options Le Guen could choose from to bounce back into the football world.

After a mixed experience with Cameroon between July 2009 and June 2010 and an early elimination in the World Cup, Le Guen will lead his second national team and will replace his compatriot Claude Leroy, removed from office. By July, the man who coached Rennes between 1998 and 2001 will begin his new duties with a training camp of the «Al Khanajar Al Omania» (Omani daggers) planned in Beirut. The Omanis have their heart set on doing well in the qualifying stages for the 2014 World Cup and this will therefore be under the management of Le Guen
