Former Players: Badiane badly injured

Transferred from Rennes to Laval this summer, Lhadji Badiane has experienced a serious setback this week-end. A regular member of the starting eleven of the Tangos, the striker has torn the cruciate ligaments of his left knee against Arles-Avignon (2-1) on Friday, L’Équipe announced on their website.

A bad injury which will keep him away from the grounds for long months, and could even bring his 2011-2012 season to a premature end.
A real blow for this striker trained in Rennes, the Reserve’s best goal-scorer in CFA during the 2006-2007 season with nineteen goals. Turning professional in June 2007 at the same time as Fabien Lemoine, Badiane could never confirm with the first team, earning twelve games, only one start and no goal. After average loan spells in Clermont and Dijon, Stade Rennes had finally let him go last summer.
