Former players: Moukandjo in Monaco

Three and a half years after he arrived in France, in Rennes, Cameroonese striker Benjamin Moukandjo has joined AS Monaco this Monday.

Arrived in Brittany to discover Ligue 1, the young striker ended up taking the long way to manage it. After promising beginnings with the reserve, his first season (2007-2008) was spoiled by recurrent injuries.
Loaned to Sannois-Saint-Gratien, in National, the following season, he didn’t show more convincing, and Stade Rennes logically decided to let him go.

Transferred to Nimes in August 2009, he bounced back to eventually become one of the best wingers in Ligue 2. Coveted by several clubs in the top flight (Brest, Saint-Étienne...), he finally signed a three and a half years contract in Monaco. The transfer fee is reported to be in the region of 500.000 euros.
