Former players: Traoré in Marseille

The Olympique de Marseille announced this Wednesday that they had found an agreement with left back Djimi Traoré, who should sign a contract with the Phocean club soon.
Marseille had been looking for an additional defending player since weeks, in order to cover for the possible absences of Jérémy Morel. Djimi Traoré should therefore only have reduced playing time on the Canebière.

After an unconvincing six months in Rennes (the Malian was loaned by Portsmouth), Traoré returned to England, were he was loaned once again, to Birmingham City.
Released by Portsmouth in 2009, he had reunited with Guy Lacombe when he signed in Monaco for two years. In the Principality, he didn’t leave an unforgettable memory either, especially since his second season was spoilt by a cruciate ligaments injury in December 2010. Once again reaching the end of his contract, the former Liverpool player had been looking for a club since the end of last season.
