Injuries: worse than expected for Boye

Injuries: worse than expected for Boye

Anxious about the situation of John Boye following last week-end’s game against Saint-Etienne, Frédéric Antonetti was right to worry about his central defender.

According to an announcement published by the club on Monday afternoon, the Ghanaian international suffers with a pulled muscle in the left thigh after his match against Saint-Étienne. A diagnostic given after the player passed a MRI scan this Monday. A severe blow for Antonetti and his staff, who will not be able to count on Boye for the next six weeks (instead of for the next three weeks, as Antonetti initially thought).

From now and until the return of Kader Mangane, expected for the next international break, the Rennes’ coach will have to « invent a defence » for the next two – tough- matches against Atlético Madrid and Lille. Boye should not be back before the mid-November international break.
